I'm sitting here watching the Columbus day parade with my family. It's a tradition in our house that where theirs any parade on a special day we watch it. The Caribbean day Parade, the labor day parade, Dominican day parade, and others... Another tradition thats very popular which is very easy is to have green, white & red carnations to symbolize the Italian flag – making home made green carnations people have been using green food dye & cutting the bottom of white carnations soaking the flowers for 24 hours. Also when Italian cooking having a medley reminding of the Italian flag of vegetables by chopping red & green peppers & white onion with sausage on Italian sesame see roll, soo delicious! The other day downtown at Old St. Pat's on the lower east side I visited the San Genaro festival, lot's of great food & stuff of course. I prefer the desserts myself. But not too much Panettone for myself! People particularly take pride of their Italian food heritage on Columbus Day. My father worked for an Italian guy who taught him all about Italian cooking & visit some of the mom & pop Italian shops in the Bronx with him when going shopping. For myself I tend to like making Italian food from scratch like thin whole wheat spaghetti with homemade turkey meatballs with tomato sauce, predictable,but still my favorite. Well hello hello. I've certainly been away from unique gifts writing for a while. Since January even; but here is Spring time & it well worth the wait! As a matter of fact today, TODAY is our 3rd anniversary of the launching of Geris-Specialty-Unique-Gift-Ideas.com, HAPPY BIRTHDAY! Hope you had a good time yesterday Thanksgiving Day. Or maybe you didn't have a good time. For me it was a time of family & good cooking. Maybe for you, like my friends they all went to eat out & look at the sites of NYC after the Thanksgiving Day Parade. Yeah. Let’s get right to unique gifts; the black Friday (Today) deals. For many like you are also very happy some of those black Friday deals came before yesterday. As for your unique gift hunting…Most people would understand if you have to save money this year but, you can still get a unique gift for cheap with: Customizations which are nice & not always so expensive; If you know them well something different out of the ordinary. And finally if you don't know the person well something practical, surprise them, but be sure not to buy anything as a gift that people would normally return the day after. They can be any centerpieces that aren't the fall flower arrangements you usually have. Any centerpieces that has a fall theme or even in my opinion a fall color scheme can be used as fall arrangements. Create centerpieces for this season anywhere in the house, or for this Thanksgiving. Here I will describe centerpieces that are easy to make, inexpensive and worth your while on your counter top or dinner table. Hay! With these up & coming fall flower arrangement you can use any fall colors you want. Arrangements using fall 2010 colors should be: Endive, Golden Glow, Living Coral, Lipstick red, Purple Orchid, Chocolate Truffle, Lagoon, Woodbine, Oyster Grey, Rose Dust. Classic fall foliage colors are what I prefer. They start from, green, to yellow green, yellow, oranges, reds, & red violets. Using the same color in your arrangement can be interesting but make sure if the fall flower arrangement is going to be one color that it complements the things around you. It's not easy but some people are fixated on one color, so if you like that sort of thing choose a shade carefully. Two tone colors in an arrangement are best; or better yet relating colors like a yellow with a mustard yellow & a pale yellow.

Well at least there is Thanksgiving. Onward to the Christmas gifts! Already? You're noticing now that shops & gift stores are setting up next holidays merchandise months in advance! It is an ever so increasing trend. My theory is that people are staying home more often doing more unique gifts for themselves! And I was correct. Nevertheless the next one, Thanksgiving, gifts, decorations & stuff for most part where I an in NYC a sold out. So if you are lucky & you aught to buy your nice stuff for thanks giving while they last. Before I finished up I’ll give you a decorating tidbit: It doesn’t have to be Halloween to have Jack’O lanterns, How about smaller what I call “pumpkin lanterns” for a unique Thanksgiving idea. Carve out fall leaves, Turkeys, or any other fall style. Election Day is gone & could you believe that Christmas is around the corner. Time fly’s & soon those Christmas gifts & supplies will be short by Thanksgiving. What? Onward to New Years!

Well, this is what that I have to say about unique gifts that I have not said before. Besides being the personalized & the unexpected they can be the old fashioned or the new age edge.

Yes, rarity is the name of the game. But at the same time have in mind with unique gifts in October for Fall Season: Holidays - major ones like Columbus Day, Halloween, special days like United Nations Day. For Special events like birthdays, weddings & all types of anniversaries. Even if gift is rare should keep with the theme of the season.

Alternative options however if you: would keep the unique gifts as all fall theme; a gift for fall theme with the recipients personality in mind,e.g:pink pumpkins; or a gift something entirely for the recipients personality paying attention to the event rather the season.
