The Monkey King was born out of rock, and hence is extremely strong and durable - in fact he is totally invulnerable. He is immortal, having gorged himself on the life-giving peaches of the Jade Emperor's sacred garden.

He is also extremely smart - he learned all the magic tricks in the world from a master Taoist, so that he is now able to transform himself into seventy-two different images such as a tree, a bird, a beast of prey or a bug as small as a mosquito so as to sneak into an enemy's belly to fight him inside or out. He can employ clouds as vehicles allowing him to travel 180,000 miles in a single somersault.

He uses a Wishing Staff he got from the Dragon Kings of the Oceans as his favorite weapon - it can expand or shrink at its owner's command (he normally stores it in his earlobe). The envoy turns to Li's wife, as he knows that, despite his martial arts skill, Li is henpecked. Li then leads his army to help the emperor. On their way, the army is blocked at Zhulian Fortress by bandit Zhou Dewei. Li defeats Zhou and adopted him as his son.

The Story behind the mask:

Chinese people believed that there existed ten suns that appeared in turn in the sky during the Chinese ten-day week. Each day the ten suns would travel with their mother, the goddess Xi He, to the Valley of the Light in the East.

There, Xi He would wash her children in the lake and put them in the branches of an enormous mulberry tree called fu-sang.rnFrom the tree, only one sun would move off into the sky for a journey of one day, to reach the mount Yen-Tzu in the Far West. Tired of this routine, the ten suns decided to appear all together.

The combined heat made the life on the Earth unbearable.rnTo prevent the destruction of the Earth, the emperor Yao asked Di Jun, the father of the ten suns, to persuade his children to appear one at a time. They would not listen to him, so Di Jun sent the archer, Yi, armed with a magic bow and ten arrows to frighten the disobedient suns.

However, Yi shot nine suns, only the Sun that we see today remained in the sky. Di Jun was so angry for the death of nine of his children that he condemned Yi to live as an ordinary mortal in the earth.

Chinese people believed that there existed ten suns that appeared in turn in the sky during the Chinese ten-day week.

Each day the ten suns would travel with their mother, the goddess Xi He, to the Valley of the Light in the East.

There, Xi He would wash her children in the lake and put them in the branches of an enormous mulberry tree called fu-sang.rnFrom the tree, only one sun would move off into the sky for a journey of one day, to reach the mount Yen-Tzu in the Far West. Tired of this routine, the ten suns decided to appear all together.

The combined heat made the life on the Earth unbearable.To prevent the destruction of the Earth, the emperor Yao asked Di Jun, the father of the ten suns, to persuade his children to appear one at a time.

They would not listen to him, so Di Jun sent the archer, Yi, armed with a magic bow and ten arrows to frighten the disobedient suns. However, Yi shot nine suns, only the Sun that we see today remained in the sky.

Di Jun was so angry for the death of nine of his children that he condemned Yi to live as an ordinary mortal in the earth.
